CBS (as in the CBS Broadcasting Corp) entered the video game market briefly, through its acquisition of Gabriel Toys (renamed CBS Toys), publishing several arcade adaptations and original titles under the name "CBS Electronics", for the Atari 2600, and other consoles and computers, also producing one of the first karaoke recording/players. CBS Electronics also distributed all Coleco-related video game products in Canada, including the ColecoVision. CBS later sold Gabriel Toys to View-Master, which eventually ended up as part of Mattel.

From Home Computing Weekly June 1985 "EPYX GAMES TO MOVE HOUSE" CBS the American entertainment giant is to cease operating as a software house on 30 June. The company will still be involved in the industry, through manufacturing and distribution organisations, but will NO LONGER market software under their own label or using the EPYX name. According to EU software manager in CBS, Brian Hymes, the decision was made in USA. The EU branch had good "very well since December", when they had started. Their most known products have been EPYX titles. It now have been reported from USA's Consumer Electronics Show in Chicago (recently) "several companies trying to sign a deal for their games. Most likely it will end up with US GOLD as they have bid on all previous (Impossible Mission, Pitstop II and Breakdance) and future releases (Winter Games, Summer Games II, GI JOE).
