GEJ also went to court to fight the rampant piracy in Italy, especially the magazine stand compilations. Editor Mr. Comboni from GEJ met with UK publishers in 1984 and tried make a deal, where GEJ could fight on their behalf back in Italian courts. Gamboni said that 90% of the titles Italy were imports from the UK or US, that there were only 2 other games producers in the Italian marketplace, compared to the UK. This would change in years to come, but the piracy just kept increasing. Obviously GEJ didn't manage to prosecute and get rid of the problem (Source: Home Computer Weekly 1984). Edit: likely due to there was no laws that prohibited digital copying at the time, the Italian legal system first addressed this after 1986.
