Already from 1982 to 1985 there had been with the Telematch a short-lived magazine with a similar orientation, but not long-term in the market had been able to establish.
The ASM has been edited by the founder and managing partner of Tronic publishing in Eschwege, Axel Grede. Concept, design and development of the magazine were realized by editor in chief Manfred Kleimann from the first issue.
The items with the gaming tests ended with an information box, the graphics, sounds, and game play idea motivation graded. There were categories such as Games-flop of the day, reports from the computer scene and overviews of the best-selling games and high scores of readers.

Because of this high binding the magazine has also more than a decade after its setting numerous fans who partially scans the reviews and editorial articles on the net.
Popular with the readers was also the 1988 contained in the booklet and Matthias Neumann drawn Space-Rat-comics.
End of 1991, the longtime editor in chief Manfred Kleimann left the editorial staff, was succeeded by Matthias Siegk. From the edition 5/1993 of Peter Schmitz took over the post of chief editor, who led the ASM until its setting. Starting with issue 12/1993, the magazine ASM is called - The Fun magazine from issue 11/1994 ASM - The computer humor magazine.
