Personal Computer Magazine (VNU Business Publications)
Netherlands
Personal Computer Magazine, PCMagazine or PCM is a Dutch monthly magazine about personal computers.
The first edition of PCM was released in October 1983 by VNU Business Publications. It reached its peak in the early 1990s with print runs of around 400,000 copies. Sandra Dol, now a publisher at Sanoma Media, was editor-in-chief at the time.
The Belgian Computer Magazine - also owned by VNU at the end of its existence - cooperated with PCM for a while. In PCM's October 2005 issue, then editor-in-chief Bart De Landtsheer announced that CM would be closed down:
At Dordrecht, I get the irresistible urge to reveal a public secret. Namely that the Dutch PCM and Belgian CM have the same editor-in-chief. The Dutch reader will not have a message about this, but in Belgium it is slightly different. There, both sheets are next to each other in the kiosk. CM disappears, while the circulation of PCM in Belgium is increasing. From now on, therefore, one sheet but still the same tests, the same editorial formula and - yes - the same editor-in-chief.
PCM was acquired by HUB Uitgevers in November 2007. PCM has been published by Reshift Digital since September 2013. The magazine appears in a circulation of more than 50,000 copies per month. In his articles it focuses on both the advanced hobbyist / home user and the professional computer user. Since the restyling in 2017, some of the articles have been about technology that is not directly PC related.
