On-line Entertainment
Founded in 1989 following Computer Rentals Limited's (CRL) financial issues, On-Line Entertainment is a publisher focusing on multi-player games through the Internet.

After Computer Rentals Limited's closure in 1989 (following going into administration in 1987), On-Line ran the CRL subdivision Actual Screenshots for a couple of years.

In addition to its own business, On-line Entertainment owned one third of the issued share capital of Transylvania Interactive. In 1991, On-line Entertainment produced some of the first CD-ROM titles ever published. They developed CDTV products for Commodore and then PC CD-ROMs.

The Directors, recognising that the CD-ROM market was highly competitive and that the Internet market was about to grow rapidly, decided to commence the provision of online services with particular emphasis on Multi-player and Massively Multi-player games.

By 1993, On-line Entertainment was involved in publishing CD-ROM's as well as developing third party projects including The Lawnmower Man, which became a significant No.1 success.

In 1995, On-line Entertainment began developing The Interactive Rocky Horror Show, a CD-ROM computer game, as a joint production through Transylvania Interactive.

The company was acquired by On-Line PLC in August 1996.
